Out and about....art of the trench

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
I first met up with William almost 2 years ago when he was in town with his Mum for his birthday. At the time I was taking pic's for the Vogue Street style competition. You can see the picture I took of him then, here. William was at university at the time and his goal then was to work for Vogue. Since we last met he has moved to London and is in the middle of a masters in fashion journalism. It was good to see him and learn that he is still concentrating on his goal to work for Vogue. He describes his style as tailored. For summer he is channeling Brideshead Revisited for his look, wearing cravats etc. Today he is wearing an Aquascutum trench, TM Lewin shirt, vintage bowtie, Primark cardy, Levis jeans, his dads belt, John Lewis boots (they are his favourite Chelsea boots) and carrying a Mulberry bag.

Out and about....take a second look

From Fashionistable
Lydia is a marketing exec and works in Knightsbridge. Her style influence is the catwalk and mainly classic looks. Her favourite designers are Chanel and Mulberry. On the high st he likes Zara, H&M and New Look.. When I asked her to tell me something that was surprising about herself she told me "I've had more plastic surgery than you would think." She told me what but asked me to keep you guessing......tease. Her beret used to belong to her aunt, her coat is from Hennes, boots Jones and bag Mulberry.

Out and about....organised

From Fashionistable
I have been meeting a lot of native Londoners on my travels recently which is great. Kate is one of them. She works for an events agency. Organising mainly corporate events. As a result, how she is dressed now, is as edgy as she can get away with on a day to day basis. Otherwise her style influences are Goodwood Vintage, Celebs and the TV. Here both her jacket and necklace are vintage. Her dress is H&M, boots are Topshop and bag is Mulberry. Kate is fluent in Italian having studied and lived there. I would love to be able to speak Italian.

Out and about....oranges and lemons

From Fashionistable
Another cape. I am just loving these at the moment. This is a Zara one. I spotted Michelle when she was in Starbucks buying her morning coffee and knew I had to photographer her. Michelle is the head of print production at VCCP and is a London girl from Battersea. Her style is totally mood dependent and she will dress up or down accordingly. For inspiration Michelle will look at a lot a sites like Net-A-Porter then go find the equivalent on the high street. The rest of her look today consists of shirt and boots from River Island, leggings Dorothy Perkins and under her cape is a Mulberry bag. She would like to learn to shoot and has just applied for a gun license. The main reason she told me she would like to learn to shoot is to hone her concentration skills.

Out and about....one to watch

From Fashionistable
Tru is Korean and has been living in London for a year already and is now getting ready to start her 1st year at St Martins studying fashion. Her own personal style is a mix of anything she wants, from vintage to Alexander Wang. It all depends on the day. Today she is wearing an Alexander Wang cardy. Vintage top and shorts, shoes by Carvela and is carrying a Mulberry bag. She loves to travel and is accepting of lots of different life styles. She also loves people watching in different countries. For her own designs she uses her people watching as inspiration. Recently she has been using the London Underground as her source of inspiration. She told me she has been looking at how isolated and empty people seem when they are traveling on the tube. Everyone keeps to themselves or plugs themselves in (ipods etc) to escape.

I have made it through to the Vogue Photo blog shortlist. There are still 97 other hopefuls. I would love it if you would leave a comment for me here.

Out and about....summer dressing

From Fashionistable
I love the summer I really do. The wonderful light and the sunshine just lift the spirits. Dressing for the sunshine however I find challenging. Paula on the other hand has it sussed. I love this cool sharp look. And those shoes and her right on trend bag - perfect. So, the look is comprised of shorts from Zara (which is were I spotted her, I was buying those blue trousers I was talking about last week). Her top is from Gap. All teamed up with a Mulberry bag and Fly shoes. Paula's hair is her natural colour. She said she decided to give in to the gray. Great decision I say it is an amazing colour. She likes to keep her style classic and simple, not fussy or patterned.
When I asked Paula if she worked she said no then proceeded to tell me she had 3 children, so I beg to differ there. I would say they keep her pretty busy (I interviewed her as we walked down the street as she had to head home to do the school run). Although originally from London, Paula and her family have lived all over the place, France, Kuwait and Beirut, but have been back in London for the past 2 years. When I met her she was with her Mum who I am sure is happy to have them all back in the UK.
What was amazing was although I had never met Paula before we both thought we knew each other from somewhere. Still wondering.
