Out and about....Viva

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
I met the fabulous Viva as she was leaving her caravan to go preform at Odditorium telling stories, with Jane Spurr, which is why she was dressed up. And what stories she has to tell. Viv was in the first punk band in Cornwall in the 70's and 80's  - with her son - called The Bricks. She has just retired from working at Glastonbury (the festival). Viva has also known the Port Eliot festival since 18981 when is was originally called The Elephant Fayre and this year was managing the Bowling Green. I asked her a few questions the 1st was who or what was her style influence her reply was " I think Vivienne Westward is a genius I love her work but being the size I am I can only wear the things that fit my extremities." Her wonderful dress was designed by Theo Clinkard who now designs for opera and ballet. She also had red Vivienne Westwood wellies on under her dress and was carrying a Vivienne Westwood bag.
I then asked Viva about her favourite place and she said "I am a Londoner and I think London is so beautiful but I also love my lovely home not far from St. Germans."

Out and about...Graduate Fashion Week part 3

From Fashionistable
Matt Bosbridge has just graduated in promotions. He was going to an interview about promoting his own designs which, is why he told me, he was suited and booted. He has obviously decided to used his newly gained degree wisely. For his interview he has chosen to wear an ASOS suit, Ben Sherman shirt, vintage DM's and briefcase. His surprise for us is that he loves chick flicks.

From Fashionistable
Raj Soond has just graduated in fashion design and is going to work as a freelance stylist and designer. When I asked what his surprise was he said he dresses for a big city but lives in a small town. He is wearing Vivienne Westwood glasses, shirt and shoes, Dior jacket and Topman trousers.

From Fashionistable
Miles Dumphy has just graduated from Birmingham specialising in menswear design. He was very excited about showing his work and was looking out for one of his models while I was shooting. Next up he is hoping for a place at the RCA to do an MA. His surprise for us was that he loves music and loves to smile. Miles is wearing a Nike jacket, Kooples shirt, NBA basketball shirt, his own design trousers, Okiai shoes and is carrying a Jan Sport bag.

From Fashionistable
Mr Porter - Luke like Miles is a menswear designer who would also like to go on to do an MA. I wish them both success. He is wearing a suit he bought in a charity shop on Berwick Street. He cut off the trousers and added the shiny detail on the collar.. His T is from H&M and shoes are Topman. Now, I wouldn't ordinarily say OK to white socks on a guy (unless he was playing sport) but I think I have found an exception with this look.

Out and about....Graduate Fashion Week Rainy Monday

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
It rained all day today. I am sick and tired of being cold and wet. Still went to Graduate Fashion Week though. Tomorrow will be drier so I will be easier to shoot, so I hope to bring you more tomorrow.
Jimmy Q is a model with Select. He is originally from LA but has been living in the UK for a year now and is loving it here. His surprise for us is that he is a professional skateboarder and a tattoo artist. He is wearing a Wacko Maria suit from Japan, vintage shirt and shoes, a pocket watch which belongs to his girlfriends father. His pocket square is a tea towel, now there is improvisation for you. Finally his tie is from Hugo Boss and hat is a Whiteleys.

From Fashionistable

Katerina Smutok is also a model, guess that is how my eye were seeing today. She was in a rush so I dont have as much info on her. Originally from Russia, the wonderful coat/cape she is wearing is one of her mothers designs Smutok Attiler. Her brolly is Vivienne Westwood, bag Longchamp and scarf Jim Thompson.

From Fashionistable
I have also shot some regular Street Chic for June for Vogue which you can see here.

Out and about....it's all in the smile

From Fashionistable
I met Kamilla near Carnaby Street. She is a model with Premier and was on her way to a casting. When I asked her to tell me something surprising about herself she told me she loves to smile. This is surprising as it is not something models get to do a lot. She does have a lovely smile though. For her casting she was wearing a scarf by Balenciaga, a vintage playsuit, coat from Zara, boots by Tods, glasses by Prototype and is carrying a Vivienne Westwood bag.

I met Cassie as she was walking Jesus through Soho. Her and her boyfriend named him Jesus as he was born on Christmas day, he is cute huh. Cassie works part-time for Vivienne Westwood, she also has her own business in Camden called Guts for Garters. When I asked her where favourite place in London was she said it was Soho "it is the heart and soul of London. I wouldn't change it for the world." Very happily she also lives there. Her surprising story was that she had just done a naked photo shoot the day before. For this shot she is wearing, a vintage overcoat, jacket by Child of the Jago, H&M trousers, Joux Joux shoes. Her glasses are Ray Ban and belt is by Vivienne Westwood.

Out and about....colourful vintage

From Fashionistable
Tom and Teri-Jayne met at Bestival at the end of last summer. Tom is at Uni in Sheffield and Teri-Jayne is about to move up there to be near him. She finished her degree in fashion in the summer. Tom is studying English and film studies. Teri-Jayne has been working for Vivienne Westwood. All the girls I have photographed who work for her are very colourful see here and here (look for Lisa Reynolds). I asked them where their favourite place in London was. Tom said Mile End which is were Teri-Jayne lives (for now) and Teri-Jayne said Sketch which is were she went for her birthday recently. When I met them they had just been buying some lomography film and were going off to visit the Museum of Everything in Primrose Hill. Their surprises were that Tom has a grade A in drumming and Teri-Jayne is really into dinosaurs. Tom's coat is from Beyond Retro, his shirt is from a charity shop, tie is made from some ribbon from a haberdashery dept. His jeans are from Gap, shoes are his dad's and the socks are from M&S. The bag is actually Teri-Jayne's and is from Spain. Teri-Jayne is wearing a coat from a charity shop, collar, scarf, cardy and playsuit from Beyond Retro and her shoes are from Underground.

Out and about....ray of colour

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
Oh just look at Jenny she is a wonderful ray of colour in what has been a long succession of grey shine days. It was so lovely to see her walking towards me I can tell you. Jenny is a designer of handbags who also works for Vivienne Westwood and is a stylist occasionally. Like myself she is originally from Belfast and has lived in London since April (I've been here a bit longer....). Prior to the move south she did her fashion degree at De Montford and was then a buyer for Next. Her colourful ensemble consists of a scarf from H&M (I would like one of these), coat by Gharani Strok, dress and shoes by Vivienne Westwood, tights from Peacocks and a vintage bag. She is also a hair model for Aveda - Gina Conway from there did her hair. Her surprise is that she has about 15 different tattoo's on her body. They only visable one today (if I have done a back shot) was on the back of her leg.

Out and about....red lips

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
Mizuko was wandering through Brick Lane when we met. She was just about to go into the antique market when I stopped her. She was surprised. In fact when I asked her for her surprising story she said that today was her surprising story as she had been photographed so many times. She was bemused but happy. She does look great though so I am not surprised. Mizuko is from Yokohama in Japan and is working here in a Japanese restaurant. She has been in the UK for 6months now and likes it. Her style influences are, black she likes to wear black and Vivienne Westwood. The ring she is wearing is only 1 ring, but worn on 3 fingers is from Topshop. Mmmm I would like one of these. The scarf in her  hair is from Brick Lane. Her poncho and trousers are from Zara. (Small rant here. I bought some things from there yesterday, why is it such a big deal to ask to have your newly bought items folded properly. Its such a big deal for them. I ended up folding them myself, even that didn't make them happy. Is it just me? How about you guys do you like your new clobber treated? With respect or are you happy for it to be rolled in a ball so that needs to be ironed when you get home? ;-) Rant over).  Her bag is from Miss Selfridge and shoes are from New Look.

Same  route to London as me only I studied Photography and have been here longer. Currently she is styling for Selfridges part time and freelancing the rest. Her own personal style influence is Debbie Harry. She loves her. Heather's dress is from the Salvation Army shop. Her bag was her grannys. Her cute boots are from Oxfam and the jacket is from a jumble sale. Jewelry - she is wearing one necklace from Vivienne Westwood, the other two are from flea markets. Her rings are antique from Derry. The shades are Michael Kors.  Finally I asked her were she has her hair cut and she told me Saco in Monmouth St.

I have made it through to the Vogue Photo blog shortlist. There are still 97 other hopefuls. I would love it if you would leave a comment for me here.

Out and about....the Welsh are coming - part 1

From Fashionistable
Afan is from Cardiff and is in London job hunting. Can you believe it after a drought of Welsh people I have met some more? Having graduated last year in History and Literature, Afan plans to work in a restaurant and live off his tips while saving his wage. He says his style is, hair - 40's quiff mixed with, clothing 80's skater influence. His surprising thing is that he used to be a Pro BMXer for Wales. His look today is put together with a Vivienne Westwood necklace, American Apparel shirt and socks. Afans cutoffs  have been mineral washed, his shoes are Vans and his bag is vintage.
