Orit - To Live, To Dream

As a photographer I am very lucky to get to meet many inspirational women. Some who I meet for the first time when I turn up to take their picture. But sometimes inspiration is much closer to home. Orit is my niece. I first met her when she was 20 she was then and always has been a force of nature. She is an inspirational woman who is empire building and it has and is a joy to watch her journey. We regularly read about successful (not regularly enough in my opinion) women who seem to have it all and wonder how they manage to do it. How do they balance business, family and life. I can tell you the secret from Orits' example, it is done with long hours but with joy and positivity in your heart. And belief, the belief that you can and will.
The journey usually starts from a young age and with Orit this was true too, “Design has always been in my veins. I remember looking at design magazines since I was a very young.” After Orit left the army (national service in Israel) she worked in high tec while she trained to be an interior designer. She now has a very busy office, that she opened 7 years ago. Her inspiration comes from everywhere, from travel, fashion, product and furniture design and from new technical developments for example smart house electricity. “I love to help my clients achieve the living spaces of their dreams. And work on average 18 hours a day to make this happen." All this while bringing up 3 children, and still finding time for her other passions of baking, clarinet cycling and most recently sup boarding. Here is a link to her site.

Out and about....Lifestyle Hunters

From Fashionistable
Linda and Niels of Lifestyle Hunters are great and really stand out in the crowd. The way they co-ordinate is wonderful. I first shot them here and always enjoy bumping into them. There is a lovely anticipation each day to see what their vision for the day is going to be. Today as you can see Linda has matched her tights with Niels coat and dress with his bowtie. Subtle and beautifully done.
Linda is wearing a Denis Deiem dress and Gucci shoes and is carrying a Chanel bag. Niels is wearing a custom made Blue Blood jean suit, a coat of his own design and Santoni shoes.

Reggie is the editor of Luxure magazine and a photographer. He was very bemused when I asked to photograph him as he walked. But it worked and we have some great shots as a result. I am enjoying doing this. He describes his style as traditional, classic English style. His favourite place in London is East London/Shorditch. Reggie is wearing a Bates hat, Ozwald Boateng suit, Asah Teban shirt and tie and Churches shoes.

Out and about....Smille

From Fashionistable
Ripped jeans that is the question? I think Swedish blogger and stylist Columbine Smille pulls off her Acne jeans nicely especially teamed with these wonderful pink shoes. However would I do it myself not so sure. How about you?

I love red hair and Marianne's is great. Having said that she has just gone a beautiful blue... you can check out her new colour on her site Style Devil. In the 1st picture she is wearing a jacket by Castle Byach, Mardou and Dean trousers, Costume National shoes, a Cubus scarf and is carrying a Alexander Wang bag. I dont know what she is wearing in the second shot (except for the bag of course) but was loving her fun look.

Out and about....Miroslava Duma

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
The incredibly pretty Miroslava Duma is the Contributing Editor, Editor and Founder of Buro 24/7.
And just 5 months after the birth of her first son she still has an almost innocent quality about her. In the first image she is wearing Chloe, Fendi shoes and a Venessa Arizagu necklace. In the second image she is wearing Vika Gazinskaya. When I was putting this post together (last night) I realised ahh she has orange accessories - should have posted this after the boys. Ah well now we have some orange for the girls.

Out and about....just off Oxford St.

I caught Laura as she was on her way to work and you can see why I stopped her. That pop of green with the animal print and BAM I was wide awake. This was far too good to miss. Laura works for Miss Selfridge in their head office. She is a Brand Co-Ordinator which involves working with buying, merchandising, tec and one other dept - please forgive me I was doing the interview as we walked along and as you all know my handwriting at the best of times is far from perfect....it is also why I forgot to ask what she is wearing - 2 apologies. Now I did remember to ask Laura's style influence which is high street, festivals, Mary Katrantzou and Stella McCartney, mixing high street with designer. Her favourite place in London is Covent Garden and her surprise is that she is a bit of a geek. She loves gaming and the Wii which she plays with her boyfriend.

Out and about....jumping for Jitrois

During Paris Fashion Week I only got to see Imogen (from eightlondon) once and that was for dinner. She was greatly missed. So when she told me she was back in town to shoot the new look book and promote a new range of bags for Jitrois (who she is interning with in Paris) of course I headed over to see her. After viewing the new Autumn/Winter collection, I took the opportunity to take some shots of Imogen. Imagine my delight when she lifted 2 of the bags from the new range to use in the shots. They are beautiful but also cleverly designed with a section in the middle especially to carry your iPad and are called Margot. It would feel amazing rocking up for an appointment to show my work and take my iPad out of one of these little beauties. How cool would that be. I have been wanting to put a bit more movement into my work for a while now so it was brilliant when Imogen jumped for me. It was fun to do so hope develop and use movement more from now on.
