Out and about....Diamond Jubilee Weekend

From Fashionistable

Let the party begin. London has been preparing for weeks now for the Queens Diamond Jubilee celebrations and I am sure this is also being played out in towns and villages across the UK. There are Union Jacks everywhere. I will be out and about on the Sunday and Tuesday it will be such a historic long weekend and am really looking forward to it. If you are in the UK what are you up to? All you guys from around the world will you be watching on the telly? I thought the pictures of Ben were the prefect way to kick of this great weekend for us. See what I mean about the Union Jacks. Ben is an Interiors Consultant and is originally from Middlesbrough. He is however on the move again as his surprise was that he was about to hand in his resignation and go traveling around S. America for 4 months starting with Belize. His style influence is eclectic East London, it is also his favourite place in London. To continue our very British theme he is wearing an Alexander McQueen coat - isn't the detailing wonderful. His shirt is Dior, jeans Topman, DM boots, necklace from Camden Market and his bracelets are by JW Anderson.

Out and about....Westbourne Grove

From Fashionistable
Malgosia is an artist, a painter. In fact that beautiful scarf around her neck is a print of one her own works. Originally from Poland she has been living in the UK for 12 years now. She told me she loves to travel and has traveled a lot to Japan, Europe and the US where she really likes Arizona. For style influence she looks to the elegant female, but not too much. She bought her coat in Poland, the bag is McQueen, shoes Margiela, she found the trousers and the top is from a market.

Out and about....small town, big city

From Fashionistable
Pedro and David are both from the same small town in Portugal and are both studying fashion design at St Martins. (Are we looking at the next big designer collaboration in fashion?) When I asked them what they liked best about London they both agreed it was the freedom to express themselves in their dress. They used to be ridiculed for the way they dress in the small town they are from, saying in London people are more individual and original and like what they wear. Ari Seth Cohen over at Advanced Style wrote an interesting piece this week about a young man from South Carolina asking for help with the fashion bulling he was going through. So it goes on everywhere.
Pedro told me the the most surprising thing about himself is the way he wears his clothes. David told me he could knit. Now these guys are dressed wonderfully and after they had gone I was kicking myself that I didn't give you a close up on their hands as they were both wearing amazing rings. I will tell you about them in a mo when I let you know where they are from. Pedro's style influence today is Philip Treacy and military. Usually it is just the 1st thing he sees. Here he is wearing a hat by Philip Tracey, his coat and shirt are Burberry, I think (a combination of atrocious hand writing and it was cold). Levi jeans, Gucci shoes, vintage glasses, Caroline Herrera bag and an Alexander McQueen skull ring. David is wearing a Rick Owens coat, Dsquared cardy, Levi's, boots from and alternative shop in Portugal and a YSL ring.

Out and about....stopping traffic

From Fashionistable
Fleur is a Strategy Director at BBH and has been with them for 2 and a half years now. Originally from Surrey she went to Manchester for Uni (which is were I went too) and studied English Lit. We spoke about literature for a while and she told me her favourite play is Hamlet and that she likes to see it as often as possible. The last version she saw was the one with Jude Law in it. Style wise it is not how she is influenced, it is more about how she chooses to dress. Firstly it is a really good pair of jeans usually bought in NYC. Then its coats  she says "I buy a lot of coats". Her favourite label when she can afford it is Rag and Bone. Fleur's surprise is that she is a published poet. Here she is wearing jeans by Acne, overcoat from her favourite Rag and Bone, COS shirt, Reiss hat, Alexander McQueen scarf and Clarks Originals desert boots.

Out and about....stopping traffic

I want everything Mira is wearing. I love this look. Mira runs her own jewelery business on Old Bond Street which is a franchise of Damiani. Mira is originally from Kazakhstan and has been in London for the past 2 years. She is the mother to 4 children. When I stopped her she told me 'it is usually my son who gets stopped for this kind of thing.'  Well all I can say is that he is lucky to have such a good looking mother. Mira is very sporty and has been a rescue diver for the past 15years and is in training for the Davos 42km marathon next year. Now we can see why she is in such good shape.  In the shot she is wearing a jacket by Dolce & Gabbana, McQueen scarf, Prada trousers, Sergio Rossi shoes and is carrying a YSL bag.

Goodbye Mr McQueen

From Fashionistable
I am in shock. Alexander McQueen was one of my favourite designers. I loved the beauty of his designs and his sense of drama. I will miss him.
