Out and about....the fame bureau

From Fashionistable
Portobello Road on a Sunday is a much quieter place than it's rowdy Saturday sister as the crowds have usually made their way East. I had already walked the length of the road and was on my way back when I met Ted. Ted is the MD of the The Fame Bureau where he sells high end rock 'n' roll memorabilia. He also manages a girl band called Blond (cant find a link). Ted is a Londoner and his favourite place is Hampstead where he said he grew up. Ted is wearing a jacket from Gieves and Hawkes, waistcoat is vintage Hornes, he couldn't remember where his shirt is from, jeans American Apperal, shoes are Churches and glasses Ray Ban.

Out and about....modern tribal

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
Surprisingly I have met quite a lot of stylists recently on my travels. I am thinking they are living up to their name and Nasrin is no exception in this story. She has great personal style and her work is wonderful too - you can see it here. I was very lucky to catch her as I had spotted her across the street but when I went to catch up with her she disappeared. Luckily I was still in the area (I had popped into a shop to buy a sandwich) when she came wondering back. She told me that her style influences are based on memories are emotional and eclectic. It is a mix of all sorts of things from the four corners of the earth. She is a Londoner and her favourite place in the city is Portobello Rd. She couldn't think of anything surprising to tell me about herself so I asked what the last movie she had watched was, she told me she had just rewatched The Notebook and loved it all over again. Her look today is made up of a headscarf from Kooples, dress from H&M, Topshop shoes, vintage bag, necklace from NYC and harness by Hannah Marshall.

Out and about....Westbourne Grove

From Fashionistable
Malgosia is an artist, a painter. In fact that beautiful scarf around her neck is a print of one her own works. Originally from Poland she has been living in the UK for 12 years now. She told me she loves to travel and has traveled a lot to Japan, Europe and the US where she really likes Arizona. For style influence she looks to the elegant female, but not too much. She bought her coat in Poland, the bag is McQueen, shoes Margiela, she found the trousers and the top is from a market.

Out and about....sunny and colourful

From Fashionistable
I thought I would bring a bit of sun and colour into your lives for the weekend. I love how Ayo has used colour and pattern in what she is wearing here. The flash of check, the contrasting print on her belt and skirt and the way the heart on her T mirrors the pink spots of her socks. All pulled together by this amazing background we met near. Ayo is a Londoner and while studying Economic History is working in fashion PR on the side. Busy lady. Unsurprisingly her style influence is colours and boy does she use them well. Surprisingly she told me she is a bit of a geek which her friends find hard to believe. Her geekiness centers around the TV. She loves to watch sport. Football, (Chelsea) with her Dad and athletics. Her coat is vintage from Portobello Market. The rest is a T from Urban Outfitters, H&M skirt and hoodie, vintage belt, Office shoes and LV bag.

Out and about....Recognise Magazine

From Fashionistable
I have to say I have been finding it hard to motivate myself in this flat light we have been having and the cold, cold, cold. It is so cold my camera keeps stopping and I have to take the battery out and warm it up under my arm before even it wants to play again. This has never happened before. It makes me respect my fellow photographers who work in even colder climes. My hat is well and truly off to you. Respect. Mind you it is all worth while as the people I meet are just so brilliant and giving. It is always so good to hear peoples stories. I never know just who I have stopped. Today it turned out that Cleo is the editor of Recognise magazine. Take a look, looks pretty cool to me. However it is not the only string to her bow as she also works for the boxer David Haye. When I asked her what her style influence was she told me Morticia from the Adams Family - she loves to wear black. Here she is wearing a scarf from Portobello Market. The leather jacket belongs to a friend. The black bobbly cardy over the top of the leather is from Topshop. Her bag is from H&M, the dress is an eBay purchase and her shoes are from ASOS.

Out and about....street stylish

From Fashionistable
Originally from Bournemouth Corin moved to London in 2006 for work. Her style is influenced mainly by what she see's on the street. She says 'I generally think that British girls dress better than anybody else in the western world and would rather have inspiration from style on the streets of London as opposed to looking at an American celebrity.' Saying that, on the celeb front she does like Jamie Wistone's style as she see her as a bit of a chamelion. This beautiful coat of hers was bought from an independent designer who has a stall on Portobello market. She couldn't remember the name of the designer though. Her trousers are from Reiss, her sweater is a hand me down from her grandma, shoes are Primark and headband is from Claires. She told me when she was little every time her mum went to take a picture of her she would pull a funny face. (I have a nephew like this.) She now wishes she had pictures of her young self just being herself. Surprisingly Max Clifford bought her lunch once.

Out and about....autumnal palette

From Fashionistable
I love the colours Yukee is wearing here. When we met he had been in town for a long weekend from Amsterdam. Yukee is a jewelery designer and a goldsmith. You can see his work his work here and in the picture, as he is wearing his own designs here too. He gets his style inspiration from vintage clothes, the street, hiphop, urban, and a 60's 70's crossover. For his jewelery design inspiration he looks to architecture, the V&A and everyday life. He likes meld the old with the new. He told me he likes to get lost, that he feels safe in it, it gives him a sense freedom. That it is like treasure hunting. For our shot today he is wearing a hat by Episode, scarf and sweater from a shop in Amsterdam called Orange (can't find them), jacket from Portobello market, trousers from Bangkok and he had just bought his Nike's from Offspring which is were his bag is from.

Out and about....May's day

From Fashionistable
May was shopping with her brother when we met. She loves going to Brick Lane and Spitalfields market which is were we met. It was chilly but the sun was shining. A great excuse to wear lovely over the knee socks with shorts. How many more days will you get away with that before Spring? Aren't the ribbons in her shoes wonderful. May is a Londoner and is studying for her GCSE's. She told me she will go on to do her A'levels. She loves drama but is not sure of her direction yet. There is still time. I really feel for children and young people at the moment. They are being hit really hard. No child benefit. No new schools. Pay for ever for your university education. I am amazed they are not up in arms. I remember going on strike in school because they took too long to fix the heating and we had, had enough. Come on students time to hear your voices, where are you? OK that is my rally cry over. For style May looks to Alexa Chung who she see's as effortlessly cool. Also Vogue for inspiration. I agree on both counts. Can you believe it she used to play Rugby. I did Kung Fu for a short while but gave it up because it hurt too much. Wonder if she gave up Rugby for the same reason? Her shirt used to be her brothers, the sweater her mums. Some great wardrobe mixing here. Shorts and socks are Primark. Her shoes are from a stall on Portobello Rd and her bag was from Columbia Rd. Her story gives us a great tour of a lot of the wonderful markets in London.

Out and about....deep blue

From Fashionistable
Bring me sunshine, I love it. Have you noticed though it is a lot cloudier since the planes started flying again? I swear the other day the only clouds in the sky were a build up of vapour trails. Issy told me she is a water baby, she loves water sports. Is that why she is wearing blue? I think today it had more to do with the sky. Her dress is from Portobello market, her style inspirations are Boho and Sienna. The rest of the outfit is made up of Ray-Ban sunglasses, scarf from Massimo Dutti, bag from House of Fraser and sandals from Mykonos. At the moment she works in celeb brand endorsements but would have loved to be a TV presenter. She still has time to realise her dream.
