Out and about....Bleeding Heart Yard

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
Anne is a Research Manager. Originally from Berlin Anne has live in London for the past 2 and a half years. She told me that her style is heavily influenced by her Berlin roots, with its liberalism, vintage and hippy vibe. Anne describes herself as an artist and says she has been so since she stated to walk. This crosses over into the way she dresses saying that she see how she dresses every day as a little piece of art, it is her way of expressing herself. Allowing personal freedom and self fulfillment. I had never thought of fashion in these terms before and it certainly is food for thought. Anne's favourite place in London is Shoreditch and in Berlin is all of East Berlin and especially Kreuzkoeln.
She is wearing at top by Thu Thu who is a friend of hers, a Zara skirt, Office ankle boots and her doctors bag is from her Mum who is a Doctor.

Out and about....turning the tables

From Fashionistable

Bern is an artist and administrator (to make ends meet) you can see his art here. When I said "Bern like in Switzerland?" He said "yes I was named after the town". And why not, people call their kids Paris after all so I guess that at least it is not so obvious. Bern told me his style influence is William Burrows he finds it much easier now to wear a suit all the time and finds it harder to wear regular clothes. In London his favourite place is The Sir John Soane Museum. He says he has surprised himself because after not wanting to live a conventional life he finds he has one. I am sure you have all been wondering what the significance of today's title is. Well after I had asked Bern my questions he then asked me a set of his own. His questions to me were pretty cool actually and were 1. If I were a Muppet which Muppet would I be? 2. When did I last eat fish? 3. If I was to something really, really bad what would it be? And 4. On a rating of 1 to 10 how cool did I think I was? How would you answer these?
Bern is wearing a vintage suit, waistcoat from a Scottish theater group who were selling off their wardrobe, a Bates boater, every Christmas his girlfriend buys him a new bowtie and this is one of them, an Ede and Ravenscroft shirt with detachable collar and Office shoes.

Here she is wearing a sweater and carrying a bag from Topshop, H&M trousers, Urban Outfitters shirt and Office shoes.

Out and about....the journey

From Fashionistable
What do you do when your train is running late? Here you can see what I do, I scout the platform for stylish people. I am not always successful but today I was. Kay was deep in her book, 'The Piano Teacher' when I approached her. She told me her style was based on the freedom of ideas. Now that is a wonderful concept isn't it. Her surprise for us is that although she is a vegetarian she is allergic to corn. Here she is wearing a Topshop play suit and bag, H&M glasses, charity shop necklace, tights she bought in a market, M&S socks and Office boots.
Happy 4th of July to all my American readers. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

Louise has just graduated in Illustration and is deciding what's next. We met just after she had been to see the D&AD student competition exhibition in Spitalfields. Spitalfields also happens to be her favourite place in the city. Her style influences are designers like Raf Simons, old TV shows, films and Romwe. Her surprise was that she used to rock climb. For our shots she is wearing a COS dress and shirt, Office shoes, Burberry watch and is carrying a Longchamp bag.

Polly is a Wedding Planner and is wearing a hat she has created herself. Could you design your own hat? I wouldn't even know where to start. Her dress is from Dig for Victory which she had made bespoke and is wearing Office shoes. A very feminine look with just a little hint of naughtiness with her tattoo.

The shop where Amy works as a sales assistant and front of house has got to be chocolate heaven.
I walked passed and walked back, Amy looked so relaxed in her sweet surroundings. She describes her style as old school vintage. Her favourite place in London is Camden. Our surprise is that she represented England baton twirling. I have only ever met one other baton twirler and he was a waiter in a restaurant in Miami we used to go to when I was an assistant. He used to twirl the salt and pepper before offering it to us. It was pretty impressive. Here Amy is wearing a Primark scarf, a H&M kids jacket, Topman shirt, Zara trousers and her shoes are called Flossy and are from Office.

Out and about....D'Arblay St to Oxford Circus

Only after I stopped Emily did I realise that her coat is a combination of a mac and and the beautiful overcoat. Emily's mum made her this piece. I love the shape it makes and the fact it is blue and grey. I would really love one of these. Both Emily and her mum are designers. Emily is a lingerie designer for Ace Style - they supply a lot of the high st stores. So you could have on some of her designs now ladies. Her mum is a knitwear designer and you can see her work here. It was a love of what her mum did that took Emily on the path she is on and at one point her mum was her teacher. She then went on to study contour fashion at De Montfort Uni. Emily has been at Ace Style for a year and a half now. It is her 1st job out of Uni. Her style influences are 2nd hand shops, 1930's vintage, just looking around and she loves silk and lace and is always drawn to it. Which I guess is a good thing for a lingerie designer. Her surprise was that she preformed ballet for Prince Charles at the Royal Albert Hall as part of one of the Royal Variety Performances. Emily's favourite place in London is Gordon's wine bar near Embankment. Overcoat Joan Murray Knitware, mack Zara, bag from a Hong Kong market, shoes Office.

On an other note - I was interviewed for Say Daily. You can check out the interview here

Out and about....on reflection

From Fashionistable
Athena is a Londoner. She works for size? on Carnaby Street and was sitting enjoying the sun, with a friend who also works for size?, (who you see another day) when I cut in. Athena says her style influence is the 20's the 70's and possibly the 90's garage/grunge. Surprisingly she told me that she manages to read a book a week and that she makes her own clothes. I am loving how her shoes ping with the lining of her coat. She bought the coat on eBay and the shoes are Office. Otherwise her glasses are Primark, trousers are Philip Lim and inventively her top is actually a slip which she has just pulled up and converted its use - clever.

Out and about....sunny and colourful

From Fashionistable
I thought I would bring a bit of sun and colour into your lives for the weekend. I love how Ayo has used colour and pattern in what she is wearing here. The flash of check, the contrasting print on her belt and skirt and the way the heart on her T mirrors the pink spots of her socks. All pulled together by this amazing background we met near. Ayo is a Londoner and while studying Economic History is working in fashion PR on the side. Busy lady. Unsurprisingly her style influence is colours and boy does she use them well. Surprisingly she told me she is a bit of a geek which her friends find hard to believe. Her geekiness centers around the TV. She loves to watch sport. Football, (Chelsea) with her Dad and athletics. Her coat is vintage from Portobello Market. The rest is a T from Urban Outfitters, H&M skirt and hoodie, vintage belt, Office shoes and LV bag.

Out and about....key accessories

From Fashionistable
Rebecca works as a planner in an Ad agency. Previously she worked for an innovation agency as a creative consultant. Style wise she loves accessories, but her clothing needs to be comfy. "Whatever I wear I must be able to walk fast or have a good meal in." Rebecca will wear only one statement piece at a time, be it a scarf or a jacket. Favourite place - Kenya. Surprisingly Rebecca once rode for England in Show Jumping. The reason it is surprising is that she is petrified of heights, so that coupled with the jumps don't really go. Here her jacket is Reiss, top and jeans are Topshop and her shoes are from Office. Her accessories today are a scarf from Zara, necklace from Mawi and bag from Miu Miu.

I have made it through to the Vogue Photo blog shortlist. There are still 97 other hopefuls. I would love it if you would leave a comment for me here.

Out and about....take a seat

From Fashionistable
Victoria is from Chelsea, she has just come back to the UK after a year abroad spent in Paris and Spain as part of her Uni course. She studies French, Spanish and History of Art at Durham. Paris had a great effect on Victoria. She says she blossomed creatively there. Describing herself as a budding photographer she told me she took lots of pictures during her time in Paris. At the moment she is having fun playing with composition, she also loves the effects she gets from different camera phones and experimenting. Generally she loves fashion photography and styling. I asked her if she is going anywhere during the summer. She said a week in the South of France however she is really enjoying being back in London for now. Her jacket is Earl Jean vintage, the shirt is Ralph Lauren and the additional gingham collar (which is red and white on the other side) is from Spain. Victoria's trousers are from French Connection, shoes Office, socks Gap and bag Marc Jacobs.

Out and about...untold

From Fashionistable
Ola is originally from Nigeria. He is the designer liaison and logistics coordinator at Un-Told. Untold is a collaboration of newly emerging designers and artists. Have a look at what they do.
For himself he likes to keep his style functional. He said that for men there is nothing new under the sun, just the order and colour changes. His favourite designers are Helmut Lang and Comme des Garcons. When I met him he was wearing his vintage Helmut Lang jacket. The broach on his jacket is by Ituen Basi a designer from Lagos. His bretton stripe top was either from Muji or Uniqlo, he couldn't remember. Obviously his bag is by Margaret Howell.  His trousers are from Joseph and finally the shoes are Office.

Here is the lovely Clare from Tweet. As some of you will know from her blog we met when she was down in London for the day. Although we had both met bloggers before we had never intentionally met up with one before. So of course I had to photograph her for you all. I love following Clare she has a great eye for new designers and photography check her out here. I feel I learn something new from her every day. She just did an interview with Qype (read here) which gives you a lovely insight into her background. For her own style she told me her inspiration comes from blogs and street style. Her favourite colour is black, it is a great staple. Clare is wearing a Topshop leather jacket and stripey top. Henry Holland shorts for Debenhams. We both agreed we loved a good pair of 120 denier tights. The pair Clare is wearing is from Topshop. Her shoes are from Office and her lovely contrasting bag was £1 from Portobello market. When I asked Clare her favourite place in the world was I was very impressed with her reply. So may of us are looking for greener grass, how cool is it when it is right under your feet. Clare's favourite place in the world is home - it is where her heart is. Very cool.
