Out and about....key accessories

From Fashionistable
Rebecca works as a planner in an Ad agency. Previously she worked for an innovation agency as a creative consultant. Style wise she loves accessories, but her clothing needs to be comfy. "Whatever I wear I must be able to walk fast or have a good meal in." Rebecca will wear only one statement piece at a time, be it a scarf or a jacket. Favourite place - Kenya. Surprisingly Rebecca once rode for England in Show Jumping. The reason it is surprising is that she is petrified of heights, so that coupled with the jumps don't really go. Here her jacket is Reiss, top and jeans are Topshop and her shoes are from Office. Her accessories today are a scarf from Zara, necklace from Mawi and bag from Miu Miu.

I have made it through to the Vogue Photo blog shortlist. There are still 97 other hopefuls. I would love it if you would leave a comment for me here.

Out and about....New and Lingwood

From Fashionistable
From Fashionistable
Still out and about on my birthday collaboration with TNMA. I couldn't decide which image of Nicholas I liked the best so you have them both. You can let me know which you prefer. Nicholas is the creative director of New and Lingwood and accordingly he is beautifully dressed head to toe in their apparel. Apart from this he is wearing Tom Ford glasses and a watch which I think her said was a Yonger. He is just about to turn 50 this year and is planning his birthday bash. He loves to promote English tailoring and I think he doing this wonderfully with the look he is sporting today. He also feels you need to make more of an effort as you age to look your best and believes he can make any man no matter what their size look as cool as he does. (As cool as he does are my words - as I think he looks very cool.) When asked what his surprising story was and he told us we said Ah! yes. He was once paid the compliment that he looked like Yves Saint Laurent. Are you going Ah! yes now too?

Out and about....Mumbai Chic

From Fashionistable
As promised yesterday here is the 1st of the shots I took when I was out recently with thatsnotmyage.
Anita made me go wow. I thought she looked lovely. I love her hair, her casual yet effortlessly chic style and her use of colour. Anita travels a lot. Her husband is a banker and this trip was for de-stressing. She says there is nothing surprising about her, that in fact the most surprising thing about her is us stopping her to to take her picture. On the style front she told us that her dad always said "Whatever you wear, wear it with confidence. Whatever the budget." Very good advice, I agree. Anita designed and made this outfit herself (now there is something surprising). She told us she likes to wear linen in the day and natural silk in the evenings. The rest of her look is finished off with a Louis Vuitton bag and shoes and Roberto Cavalli sunglasses. Anita is very sweet and we have been chatting since I took the shot. I am looking forward to sending her the link for this post.

Happy Birthday Fashionistable

It is my 1st birthday today as Fashionistable. Happy Birthday to me ☺. And a Happy 1st Birthday over at Thats Not My Age too. (We have collaborated again pic's to come later in the week.) It has been an amazing year. I have met many, many fantastic people both when I have been Out and about and right here in the blogging world. My initial intention with starting the blog was to give me an outlet to encourage me to take pictures on a more regular basis. Little did I know just how much it would pull me in and excite me. As I said it is amazing it has given me such a wonderful sense of achievement I never would have dreamed was possible.
So I would like to take this opportunity to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to you all my wonderful followers you have given me fantastic encouragement over the past year and I love you all for it. Love and Kisses Dvora (Fashionistable) Xxxx.

Here are a few highlights from the past year.

Out and about....little black dress

From Fashionistable
Lianna is a model from Models1. When we met she was shopping for a present for a friend. She is a Peckham girl from right here in London. Her style is influenced from her travels. Her favourite places are London, Berlin and Paris. Her surprising thing is that she is a rock climber. In the shot Lianna is wearing a vintage hat which she found. Her dress and shoes are also vintage and her brown bag belongs to her mum. In the bottom left corner you can just see part of another bag she was carrying but put down for the shot. This one is by religion.
I am heading off today, back to Ireland to see my family there. So have a lovely weekend. See you on the other side. Xxxx

Out and about....Camden Pride

From Fashionistable
Amy is PA to the owner of Proud in Camden. She is originally from Sydney in Australia. After being here for the past two years, she normally heads back to OZ for the winter, however this year she is going to stick it out and stay. Her challenge will be coping with the lack of light.
For style inspiration she looks to the 1950's and Rockabilly. Here she is wearing a cute shirt from (can't find it but I am sure the label was) love tfx. Her shorts are vintage, the belt is Topshop and her shoes are from Urban Outfitters.

Out and about....foxy

From Fashionistable
Teresa is an American and loves living in London. She comes from NYC and believes the fashion sensibility in London is absolutely GREAT — fresh, inspired, eclectic, DIY — and prefers it to NYC where she says even the street style seems less imaginative. Teresa wears heels at work “so people think I’m tall and powerful” and these are Kate Spade sling-backs that you can dress-up or down. “My color palette starts with my hair which went gray when I was 18 and seems to be the only thing people ever notice about me. My color palette is dictated by the hair. Poison green, black, white, gray, and anything blue work well -- but taupe and brown and beige simply drain the LIFE out of me.” Today Teresa is wearing a simple black tee and sweater from Joseph with Banana Republic shorts. Although you cannot see them, she told me she is addicted to Bodas string bikinis and bras — and likes them best when they’re "matchy-matchy".

Out and about....Amsterdam Model

From Fashionistable
I met Nelleke in the fashion district in Amsterdam. We had stopped to have lunch when she walked past. I was up and after her very quickly. She is a model with Touche Models. Of course she travels a lot with her job. One of her favourite places on her travels is Cape Town. When I ask people to tell me something surprising about themselves I usually prompt them with Skydiving of Bungee jumping to try and trigger their thoughts. Well in this occasion these were exactly the things Nelleke loves to do and describes herself as an adrenalin junky. She lives for the highs in life. Style wise she likes to mix expensive with cheap and describes her style as casual chic. I love her boots which are vintage. Her shorts are Sandro, top is Zara and bag by Jarew (might have this spelling wrong). Finally her glasses are Ray-Ban.

Out and about....pearls and poodles

From Fashionistable
I met the lovely Milly a while ago when she was on her way to a beauty bloggers event for The Bodyshop at Westbury Hotel. She has a beautiful blog you can check out here pearlsandpoodles, she told me it is her creative outlet. My camera was giving me jip but even though she was in a rush she was cool and waited. I love this look, especially the big heart on her t-shirt it reflects her perfectly. Milly is vegetarian and as a result is very much into ethical cosmetics. She also looks after herself by playing hockey and is into fitness. With her beautiful skin and great shape Milly is certainly a perfect ambassador for healthy living. Style wise she likes to mix high st with high end. Today we see her in a T from Topshop, River Island shorts and shoes and Louis Vuitton bag. Her style Icons are Alexa Chung and the Olsen twins.

Out and about....pastels and flowers

From Fashionistable
Katherine is a digital producer and painter. Two completely different media for her. I am sure it keeps her on her toes. She is obviously a lovely mix of thoroughly modern and traditional, as she paints in oils. Katherine is originally from Yorkshire and it still remains her favourite place in the world. At the moment she is all loved up as she just got married in June. And of course she went back to Yorkshire to tie the knot.  She loves gardening and at the moment her favourite flower is a new orange rudbeckia. Katherine is wearing a jacket from Topshop, dress from Warehouse, shoes from Dune, earrings from Accessorize and sunglasses from Ralph Lauren. She then smiled and said 'but I do have expensive Rigby and Peller underwear on'.

From Fashionistable
Cassie is from Pontrhydyfen in Wales. She works for WGSN and is a trend spotter and fashion writer. And is the 2nd person I have photographed from WGSN have a look here. Cassie's style influence is vintage and girly. This is a great look. I am loving the socks and sandals. You would never know to look at her but Cassie is a junk food addict. Her dress is from Topshop, the cute hat is from a market in Ibiza. She bought her bag in Egypt, her shoes are from H&M and the socks are Gap.

Out and about....Swiss Miss

From Fashionistable
Helena is from Switzerland. She has been in London for 2 weeks on a fashion course at St Martins which she said she loved. Helena has just finished high school and is going to have a gap year as she decides what to do next. Her style influence is British style and Alexa Chung. Helena really likes London and wants to come back here as soon as she can. Her dress is from H&M, she had just bought her glasses on Brick Lane and couldn't remember where her bag was from. I love her long lean elegant line.

Out and about....in town with the girls

From Fashionistable
When I met Victoria she was in town shopping with 2 of her friends. For me she just stood out.

Now I feel I need to tell you a bit about how I work here. When I am out and about I would say I tend to approach more people who are on their own. It is easier to strike up a conversation that way. If they are on their phone I will usually let them go as I don't like to interrupt - however there are exceptions to this rule. If they are not moving too fast I will follow. If they are walking up and down in the same area I will wait.

However if they stand out from the people around them I will home in on the person I want to photograph. When I do this though I am very aware of the others I have not asked. And always thank them at the end for their patience while I have photographed their friend, girlfriend or boyfriend. On this day I felt even more awkward though. As Victoria's friends stood behind me I could hear them say "what's wrong with us? We made and effort too." Then when I was interviewing Victoria some more friends arrived and her friends said the same to them and they joined in with "how embarrassing". By the time I walked away I felt really bad. So ladies in reply, there was nothing wrong with you at all it's just that for me there was so much right about Victoria and I am sorry if I offended you in any way.

Victoria is from Reading and was in town for the Gina sale - shoe shopping. Wonderful. Style wise she goes for whatever feels comfortable and whatever her husband likes too.
Here she is wearing a top and shorts from French Connection, shoes from LK Bennett and is carrying a Chanel bag.

Out and about....pretty in pink

From Fashionistable
Natalie is a Preston lass and has just finished a degree in Law. She loves fashion, and says her style inspiration is usually a reflection of her mood. Dressing up makes her feel better. Her other loves are walking in London and people watching. Natalie says that London and NYC are the best places to people watch, better than say Hong Kong. I have yet to go to Hong Kong so am unable for now to say if I agree with her of not. Natalie is wearing 2 tops, the outer is from Primark limited collection and the inner which is also lace is from Topshop. Her belt was a present from her mum. The pink shirt is from TK Maxx, her shoes and bag are Primark again and her necklace is John Richmond.
