Out and about....Crispin St

From Fashionistable
I would say the location for today's shot is probably one of the most iconic in Spitalfields. It is certainly on of my favourites and it takes a lot not to drag everyone over to this spot to take pictures. It is wonderful that the owners keep the brilliant old painted shop front.
Louie is both a model and a visual merchandiser. When I asked him for his favourite place in London. He said "it must be Shorditch, well at least it the place I spend most of my time". His surprise for us is that he used to play football for Luton. Saying that even he finds that surprising now. I couldn't help asking him to tell me the story behind his magnificent moustache. He grew it 2 years ago for Movember, although he only managed to raise £1 for his efforts back then he has kept it going since.
Louie is wearing a Coat and trousers from French Connection, a shirt he bought in a market in Barcelona, Primark socks and Dr Martin shoes.

Out and about....model photographer

Hayley was shopping when I spotted her. She is in London at the moment house sitting for her brother. Usually she is a student at Nottingham studying photography, specialising in fine art and conceptual work. She also models a little as well. I could tell this was the case when I asked her to pull her jacket together against the cold and I was treated to the lovely energy of 1st image. Style wise she told me she lives in her leather jacket "its kinda just easy". Brick Lane is her favourite place in London for having a coffee and people watching. In Nottingham it is Coco Tang which is a cocktail bar which she described as "low lit and opulent". Sounds wonderful. Her surprise was that she has hyper mobile joints. Here she is wearing a jacket from Zara, shoes from Topshop, her shirt dress was a pressie from her mum, the belt is vintage and her bag is from French Connection.

Out and about....flaming redhead

From Fashionistable
Sophie is part of a graduate scheme in an Ad agency. I asked her had she ever been approached by a model agency as I was surprised she wasn't modeling. She told me she had been scouted twice. Once when she was 14 and her mum said she was too young. Then again after Uni. This time the agencies said she was too old!!!!! Style wise, her influence used to be charity shops. Then she moved and lived in Paris for a while where it became Parisian woman. Now it is a mixture of both. Surprisingly she likes to knit and taught herself on You Tube. She told me you can learn anything on You Tube, just type in 'how to' try it, she is right. I love people who for them the grass is greenest right under their feet. This is how it is for Sophie. Her favourite place is the place she grew in, at home in the countryside in West Sussex where "the garden borders the South Downs and has wonderful hilly views."  Sounds beautiful.
Today her shirt is from French Connection, the top underneath is from COS (she told me COS is her obsession - it's her favourite shop). Sophie is very tall and has amazingly long legs, this can however pose a problem getting trousers long enough and slim enough to fit. For all you tall women these jeans are from J Brand and finally her ballet pumps are from Topshop.

I have made it through to the Vogue Photo blog shortlist. There are still 97 other hopefuls. I would love it if you would leave a comment for me here.

Out and about....in town with the girls

From Fashionistable
When I met Victoria she was in town shopping with 2 of her friends. For me she just stood out.

Now I feel I need to tell you a bit about how I work here. When I am out and about I would say I tend to approach more people who are on their own. It is easier to strike up a conversation that way. If they are on their phone I will usually let them go as I don't like to interrupt - however there are exceptions to this rule. If they are not moving too fast I will follow. If they are walking up and down in the same area I will wait.

However if they stand out from the people around them I will home in on the person I want to photograph. When I do this though I am very aware of the others I have not asked. And always thank them at the end for their patience while I have photographed their friend, girlfriend or boyfriend. On this day I felt even more awkward though. As Victoria's friends stood behind me I could hear them say "what's wrong with us? We made and effort too." Then when I was interviewing Victoria some more friends arrived and her friends said the same to them and they joined in with "how embarrassing". By the time I walked away I felt really bad. So ladies in reply, there was nothing wrong with you at all it's just that for me there was so much right about Victoria and I am sorry if I offended you in any way.

Victoria is from Reading and was in town for the Gina sale - shoe shopping. Wonderful. Style wise she goes for whatever feels comfortable and whatever her husband likes too.
Here she is wearing a top and shorts from French Connection, shoes from LK Bennett and is carrying a Chanel bag.

Out and about....take a seat

From Fashionistable
Victoria is from Chelsea, she has just come back to the UK after a year abroad spent in Paris and Spain as part of her Uni course. She studies French, Spanish and History of Art at Durham. Paris had a great effect on Victoria. She says she blossomed creatively there. Describing herself as a budding photographer she told me she took lots of pictures during her time in Paris. At the moment she is having fun playing with composition, she also loves the effects she gets from different camera phones and experimenting. Generally she loves fashion photography and styling. I asked her if she is going anywhere during the summer. She said a week in the South of France however she is really enjoying being back in London for now. Her jacket is Earl Jean vintage, the shirt is Ralph Lauren and the additional gingham collar (which is red and white on the other side) is from Spain. Victoria's trousers are from French Connection, shoes Office, socks Gap and bag Marc Jacobs.
