Out and about....phone a friend

From Fashionistable
This is a very familiar sight during all fashion weeks. Everyone gets separated after the shows for one reason or another and at some point you need to find your friends. Or the rush is on to get to the next show and find (if you are lucky enough to have one) your driver. How on earth did we survive in the past without iPhone or Blackberry? Mostly the girls are looking for their friends. From the shots above I was able to direct Elisa to hers without her trying any further to get through. In some ways the phone can also be used as a defence mechanism, used as a barrier to try and keep the constant bombardment of photographers at bay. It can't be easy being photographed all the time.

I recall the days of Paris fashion week before the introduction of mobile phones - those were the days!;-)

Really interesting point about the phone as defence mechanism. This quartet of stylish women all of course manage to use their phones as though each is an integral accessory. Pre-mobile phone does seem unimaginable - especially stories my mum tells of feeding 2p pieces into phone boxes to call her friends.

How did we manage?? It might be a communication device, but it's also the modern version of the packet of cigarettes (embarrassing moment? search for the cigarettes...). The other day I heard someone describe the mobile as the 'modern adults' umbilical cord'. xxx

You are right. Somehow, people are able to carve a bit of privacy by erecting imaginary phone booth walls around them while on their iPhones. I do the same thing by reading in public! (although I really am just trying to squeeze in as much reading time in between everything else in life). Love all the graphic stripes and shapes and dots in this set of photos! -- J xx
