Out and about....red, white and blue

From Fashionistable
In keeping with the colourful weekend we have just had here in the UK, I thought I would start my week in a colourful way too. Leeann is a stylist, she had her arms full of clothes when we met (we hung them up just out of shot). She was preping for a shoot for the 1st issue of a new magazine called Hunk (for women). Leeann told me she is a complete feminist. I think it is sad how in the past few years this word has been given negative press - the dictionary meaning reads "the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men". Now ladies what can be so bad in that? Leeann went on to tell me that she has even had coke cans thrown at her in the studio when she has stuck up for herself. I find that more shocking than the fact she is a feminist. There is a rise in the numbers of young women being physically abused by their partners, is this a result of the turn away from feminism and the weakening of the fairer sex? Ooops I didnt mean to get quite so deep into this. How do you feel about this subject? Her dress is a one off piece, the boots are a Japanese brand called KTZ and her scarf and rings are vintage.
P.S she also has a blog you can check it out here.

What a great look! I love the stripes, the length of the dress and her use of those funky pink wedges. I'm surprised by the reaction she gets to being a feminist as well. I think most women are feminists without even realizing it and it's bizarre that in this day and age, people still have such a strong negative reaction to it.

Love her dress - I like when stripes are bold the way they are meant to be!
When I decided to not work while my two children were very young, I was told by my sister-in-law that I was doing a disservice to feminists everywhere, to which I responded that feminism is about women having CHOICES.
ANyhooo, great post:)

Great post! You absolutely right. It is sad, that so many people (especially women) think it's bad to claim their rights. I am a feminist, too; although I don't hate men.
And, well it is right to have choices, someone should do whatever makes him/her happy, but don't loose your possibility to be independent.

She's such a gorgeous girl and the dress looks fabulous on her! I admire her for being a feminist and for being not afraid to speak up! I think as women become more and more powerful, men feel threatened by it and some will resort to dumb ways like violence and abuse but the real men treat women as their equals and are respectful! xoxoxoo

Great outfit! It's so hard to carry horizontal stripes but she pulls this off nicely.

She has had things thrown at her? How sad. I am definitely a feminist, how can you not be? We all deserve equal rights, and we are still far from being treated fairly. x

i can't really comment as i don't have experience from either side but it does seem totally idiotic to beat your partner, i mean it's YOUR partner! alls i know is it's inexcusable.
